Lhamea is a multi talented young lady who can sing everything from Opera to RnB and has an immense vocal range of 3.5 octaves. At this current moment she is studying a BTEC National Diploma in Popular Music.
Lhamea has been performing since she was 11 years old, starting in competitions up against professionals/semi professionals, singing cover versions and impersonating female vocal artists. She has had her fair share of disappointments knowing that everything isn’t always fair but it’s been no fairy-tale for her.
Lhamea was bullied physically and verbally for three years in her first secondary school because of her musical talents. As no action was ever taken her parents then removed her from the school to a new secondary school.
When Lhamea was going through her ordeal she decided to put pen to paper and write and produce music about what she was experiencing. When she decided to stand up and address this to the public, feedback became extensive. Not only was she helping herself overcome such an ordeal but also helping inspire and educate other young people, who are or have been through the same experiences as herself. This then had taken Lhamea in a different direction than having a straightforward music career. She then not only decided to write about bullying but on other issues such as gun crime, drugs and also being positive and writing about creating your own destiny to achieve your goals and aspirations in life. She eventually became a role model to all and her new secondary school nominated her for the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Award for young people for being an inspiration to her community and peers and also for overcoming what she had experienced in the past.
When she received the Diana Award she then became part of a family of other young award holder. Eventually Lhamea then became an Ambassador not only towards talking to young people but high profile people such as MP’s, commissioners, governors, teachers and people of the education at different conferences such as YPN (Young People Now) and the AOC (Associations Of Colleges) to name a few. Her work exceeds to schools where she will talk to people of different ages and cultures but also to young people who are involved in drugs and crime.
Lhamea is no stranger to live radio interviews,( Radio 1, Radio Five Live and BBC WM. ) TV, (Stars in Their Eyes performing as Ms. Dynamite) media, (ITV Lunchtime News, Sky News (World Wide) and Five News to name but a few. She has also worked in top recording studios and worked with professionals; on a professional level (Overtones Studio’s and John Henry’s London.) but Lhamea’s work is not always on a serious level not knowing what challenges she will be faced with next, from singing for the Queen to having her hair and face brightly painted for ArtsFest.
Her music in years 2003 & 2004 won the Make It, Break It Award for the young songwriters competition sponsored by Yamaha and held at LIPA (Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts) Where judges Sir Paul McCartney and Chris Martin of Coldplay and other top experts of the music industry judge high quality music made by young people. She also received the Channel 4’s Creative Class Award for her own creative and diverse advanced perception of music and was the only youngest person to receive that award. She is not only making a name for herself through education and the media but also within the music industry and critically acclaimed technological Innovations and businesses.
Lhamea has an ear for sound, which is a rare gift, and she can also play the drums and sing at the same time. When writing songs Lhamea takes inspirations from all different types of music and artists combining them into her own unique style and approach to music. When producing music she will start from scratch with the simplest melody and chord structure right up to creating her own backing vocals, harmonies and performing it to a live audience. She may only be eighteen, but she has experience and wisdom that she wants to pass on, and her songs carry a verbally powerful message.
Lhamea is determined to achieve her aspirations to carry on inspiring people with her music and to be a multi platinum selling artist right up to breaking the American music industry Which do, British artists rarely achieve? (This is a very small achievement in her eyes) But she is looking for the right music manager/management to achieve the same dreams.
Lhamea performed at Damilola Taylor's 6th Memorial Event at King's College London - 25/11/06. Lhamea performs "We Are Family" With Hiedi Watson, Mr. Richard Taylor and Sushil Dhanesha.
